- Name: Megan Lawrence
- Playing Number: 14
- How did you choose it? It was sort of just given to me. My brother was 13, so I got given 14. Sorry, Rach, I know you mega want 14
- Position: Defence
- What do you enjoy most about playing in that position? I like watching the play happen in front of me - front row seat to Liv’s magic show
- Comets Experience: Too long!! Started when I was 14, had a few years out in between though!
- Hockey Beginnings: Started playing at 12. My brother was playing, and I had tried every other sport before then and didn’t really like anything! My parents weren’t keen on me starting, thinking they would buy me all the kit, and then I would give it up!
- Previous Teams: Cardiff Junior Devils, Comets, Slough, Bristol. Also played roller hockey for 2-3 teams.
- Memorable Hockey Experience: Skating into the boards and breaking my leg in two places!
- Pre-game Preparation:
- Physically and Mentally: Have a good meal enough time beforehand, so I’m not sick in the game and not starving either (it’s a fine line). I also like fresh tape for games and not be rushing around and late!
- Ritual: One word - chilled
- Hockey Idols/Role Models: Jeff Burgoyne - best defender who ever wore a Devils shirt. Great skater and read the game so well. I’ve also got a tortoise called ‘Burgy’ after him!
- Goals:
- Short-term and Long-term: Win the league, win playoffs, and get promotion.
- Off-ice Interests: Hanging around with Comets friends - strengthens the bond between us
- Fun Fact: If my hockey helmet had a built-in snack dispenser, it would dispense Cola Cola. I’d lose half my teeth and look like a real hockey player then!
- Unforgettable Moment: Sleeping in hockey gear - to keep me warm!
- Looking Forward: Comets is going to be very different this season with a brand new coaching team on board - looking forward to us all getting better at hockey and better as a team - and to see what the season brings!
