Comets started the game off with a quick attack into the Swindon end and took the Lead 1-0 within just 31 seconds of the game with a Goal from #14 Liv Taylor, Assisted by #9 Kim Evans and #58 Rosie Redwood.
Swindon settled into the game not long after and responded with their own Goal @ 1:19 from #22 Sarah Rouse, Assisted by #75 Phebe Dodd and #26 Annabelle Cuss.
Swindon found themselves stuck in their own end for a while and whilst Comets were setting up their attack Swindons #26 Annabelle Cuss was called for Roughing just in front of the net. Shortly after going down to 5 on 4 Swindon found themselves in further trouble after #49 Paige Breen was called for Tripping taking them down to 5 on 3 for just over 1 minute. Unfortunately Swindons defence was strong and they held off the Comets Powerplay and returned to full strength.
Both teams kept up their momentum battling hard back and forth until an opportunity opened for Comets where #14 Liv Taylor was able to skate from the Comets end into Swindons end, braking through the Swindon defence and scoring a backhanded goal @ 12:31 unassisted.
Just before the end of the 1st Period Comets were called for Too many men and received a 2 minute penalty but we’re able to hold off Swindons attack and returned to full strength.
Half way through the 2nd Period Comets went on another PowerPlay after #20 Laura Bailey received a penalty for Tripping #9 Kim Evans who was breaking through Swindons Defence @30:09. Comets who were already driven by their 2-1 lead took the opportunity to try and capitalise on the 5-4 advantage putting out their PowerPlay Line.
Only 25 seconds into the PowerPlay #15 Liv Taylor saw an opening and lead the charge into the Swindon end, breaking through 2 defence men and scoring her 3rd goal of the game @ 30:37 to pick up the Hat Trick!
Heading into the 3rd Period Swindon looked strong out of the gate and it only took them 1 minute to find a way through Comets Defences scoring a sweeping goal past #33 Mackenzie Whilding. Goal by #24 Rachel Holland, Assisted by #22 Sarah Rouse and #75 Phebe Dodd @41:00.
With only 1:36 left on the clock Swindon pulled their Goalkeeper to give them an extra attacker to try and find an equalising goal to take the game into Overtime however despite all their efforts a quick turnover by the Comets and an accurate shot on net from within the Comets end by #31 Gemma Kellond secured the Comets a 4-2 Lead and the Win!
